Phase I Emergency Slope Stabilization

On February 18, 2017, a portion of State Route 12 within the northern boundaries of Bryce Canyon National park slid due to unstable soil conditions caused by heavy spring runoff. UDOT immediately mobilized a team to develop a short-term solution which safely stabilized the slope and restored the road to one lane in each direction for 2017 summer tourist season. Work will continue over the next several months to develop permanent repairs.

Phase Schedule: Complete. (Phase II schedule to be determined)

Work hours: Miscellaneous work tasks will be conducted during daytime hours.

Expected delays: No lane restrictions are expected, however, speeds will be reduced through the slide area.
